Host the big match with your family on a screen free evening!
What difference does it make?
This one a is a double whammy! Reuse a box AND play without using any power.
What do you need?
- Shoe box
- 10 wooden pegs
- 6 wooden skewers or thin dowel rods (make sure these are longer that the width of the box)
- Green paper (or white paper and green paint/crayons/felt pens)
- White paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Pencil
- Felt pens/paint pens
- Small toy football (or ping pong ball or balled up used and rinsed aluminium foil)
Step by step

Stick a piece of green paper at the bottom of the shoe box (or colour with paints/pens/crayons) and cut two goals at either end.

Decorate the pegs with colours (5 pegs per side).

Stand a peg on a flat surface next to the box. Measure where the dowel/skewer will be and make a mark. Then make another mark approx. 1cm above that make – this is where the skewer will go through (this is so the pegs don’t hit the bottom of the box while playing). Mark 6 equally spaced holes on this line on both sides of the box. Poke a sharp pencil through to make a hole (ask a grown up to help with this bit).

Poke the skewers/dowels through the holes on one side and add the pegs before poking through the other side.

Colour the ends of the skewers/dowels with team colours. Cut thin strips of paper, glue all over on one side and wrap tightly around the ends of the skewers – this will stop them coming out when you’re playing. When that's done, you're ready for kick off!
