Step by step
You'll need to know who your energy supplier is. Then head to the Smart Energy website to find out how to book an installation.
Schedule the installation and send us a photo with your meter when you have it. If the installation is not for a while, a screen grab of your confirmation will do.
If your supplier doesn't provide a smart meter, you can still win points by contacting them and asking them to issue smart meters soon.
Your electricity supplier should provide them for free.
If you feel comfortable in doing so, you can get points for asking your landlord fit a smart meter. If not, then it's ok to give this one a miss and find another activity you can do.
Some suppliers are installing remotely whilst others will postpone installation until lockdown restrictions are over.
