We all love free-flowing football - famous teams of old like Brasil or the Netherlands in the 1970s or the 1980s.
But one thing is better if it is not too free-flowing. That's your water. Fit a water-meter for free to help you keep an eye on your water flow.
What difference does it make?
Just by watching how much they use, households can save 10%-15% of their water consumption.
What do you need?
- Last water bill
- Water supplier contract
Step by step
Visit the website of your water supplier and look for the water meter section.
You might want to find out how would your water bill look like once equipped with a meter. Most of the water suppliers offer simulators. Bear in mind that even if you find out you'll pay more, that it is still an indicative figure and that you can control it.
Fill in the application and wait for your supplier to come and have your household metered.
Once its installed, take a picture and upload! If you already have one, upload a picture with it.
Need Help?
It is free in England and Wales. For Scotland you'd need to check with your water supplier.
As a general rule of thumb: if there are fewer people in your house than the number of bedrooms you will save money. In practice, monitoring water consumption encourages us to pay more attention.
It does! Water is filtered, cleaned and treated before being brought to homes: that needs energy! Between 3 kg and 4 kg of CO2e per every single cubic meter.
Here's some by the Brazilians : here and there.
And some from a more surprising source.
