Although ice baths and cold showers help the body to recover from fatigue and ensure that players stay in peak physical condition, we still pretty much prefer warm showers!
What difference does it make?
Showering is responsible for respectivaly 15% and 30% of the household energy and water consumption. An average 0.5t CO2 is emitted by household in UK to heat water. Sticking to 4 minutes showers makes a huge difference both on the planet and your bills.
This activity lowers your carbon footprint by:
0.25 KG CO₂
What do you need?
- A timer: that could be a dedicated app or an hourglass
Step by step
Most water suppliers offer a four minute shower timer for free. Check out the website of your supplier or on the Save Water Save Money website.
Alternatively you can also download the Showr app. (links in the FAQs)
Once equipped: keep it in the shower (the hourglass) or nearby (mobile phone). Time to challenge each other!
Well done! That was quick: you've not only saved water and energy but also extra time for your breakfast or your night's activities!
Share a screenshot of your mobile phone with the timer before it reaches 0! Or a picture of your 4 min hourglass before it is empty!
Be careful not slip on wet floors and keep in mind that your phone won't like the water...
